TULSA, OK-  Road Trippin’ TV host Trevor Scott, visits The Bob Dylan Center in summer 2022 just two months after the grand opening of the center in May. Scott along with his Austin-based crew from KEYE (CBS) takes viewers along for the history behind the center and why Tulsa was chosen for the Bob Dylan archive. The archive boasts nearly one-hundred thousand Bob Dylan artifacts. From unheard digital content to music, handwritten lyrics, clothing, and photos the archive is a treasure-trove of music history. The plan for the museum began in 2016 by the George Kaiser Family Foundation. The design for the museum was ultimately handed over to Seattle-based Architecture firm Olson Kundig and local architect of record, Lilly Architects.

TULSA, OK- Located at the confluence of the Cherokee, Muscogee, and Osage tribal nations, Tulsa was once known as the oil capital of the world. Now, it offers a wonderful mix of both Native American and African American culture and history, plus a blend of Midwestern and Southern charm. Oklahoma’s second-largest city, its former opulence is evident in Art Deco architecture prevalent throughout the downtown area. Also a big music town, with everything from large arenas to small bars hosting regular live music shows, Tulsa saw its Bob Dylan Center open this May in the Tulsa Arts District. The venue showcases thousands of items owned by Dylan (who reportedly appreciates the city for its strong Native American presence), over seven decades—a move that the museum hopes “will help put Tulsa on the map,” according to center director Steven Jenkins.

The Bob Dylan Center, The Church Studio and the Tulsa Club Hotel are all Lilly Architects projects featured in this article.

From the original article:

“At the after-party at Leon Russell’s Church StudioJustin Boreta spun dance music all night. Matching all the disco balls that the couple had installed for the occasion, Sophia changed into a Cristina Ottaviano minidress. Paired with ivory and silver cowboy boots, it was the perfect dress for dancing until 5 a.m. “I swapped into another pair of vintage diamond earrings from Briony Raymond that looked like midcentury starbursts, and Matthew tied my hair half up in a velvet ribbon,” Sophia says. “I felt very country-western glam!” ”
